(Husband's review) I bought this book and I wholeheartedly recommend this book for one reason, it is one hundred things to try when you need a new idea. As a comedian, I need new ideas constantly. I can't always be browsing the newspaper for an idea, I can't just sit on a park bench and systematically hate everyone as they go by, though I often do. And I cannot simply traipse through life waiting for inspiration to strike me. The writing excercises in this book could fairly be described as personal growth challenges because each one of them expands your appreciation of the creativity of so many different activities and people that it almost becomes difficult at that point not to write about them.

In short, you need something to write or talk about, or a new way to talk about something that has been rolling around in your head? This book makes things pour out of your sad brainpan better than sassmouthing law enforcement in the Ozarks. Is "sassmouthing," even a word?

A Writer Bucket List edition by Dana Sitar Ashley Perryman Quach Reference eBooks Reviews

This is one great resource for new writers.
As a new writer, just reading through the book triggered off so many good ideas to get started, plus give you motivation that you can write.

The book is split into section of ideas to write, they are
Creative Growth
Inspiration
Career
Education
Building a network
Life experience

From any of those sections, you are bound to find one inspiration that will set you off to write for sure.

One from the bucket list that really got my attention and ignited many ideas was in the section of "inspiration" was travel. My passion is to be a travel writer and since I have traveled and kept journals, this was it, this is where I will start writing short stories of my experiences. Thanks Dana for the inspiration!

If you are wanting to start writing, already writing or an established writer with writers block and need some boost to get going again or even liven up your life, read the book.

Its not just a book about giving you ideas of how to start or get writing again, but also a book of wonderful ideas on how to get out there and find something you love to do and write at the same time, finding an avenue that suites you.

recommend the book - go and get it )
A Writer's Bucket List is more than a traditional bucket list. It encourages writers to stretch their creative muscles into other fields for fun and experience, to have other hobbies (the mythical real life we often hear tale of when we surface from our works in progress to eat or manage other mundane issues), and to grow big fat ones when it comes to networking and forming connections within and without the writing community.

I especially liked number 27, "fall in love with something that isn't writing." Too often, writers focus too hard on their main passion- the art of stringing words together - and we forget to find other things and people that stir our passion, imagination and soul. Without other inspiration, our writing often suffers.

Any writer, from hobbyist to pro, should give this gem a read. It's short, entertaining and thought provoking.

*Disclosure * I received a free PDF copy as part of the Goodriter.com initial sign-up drive. My review is my own, unbiased and uninfluenced opinion.
What I like about this book is that she's young and she did this on her own.

It's not meant for someone whose been writing awhile (though I did enjoy reading her 99 Things to Do as a Writer from type on a typewriter to write a thank you note to your teachers), but these are small ideas (a couple paragraphs for each idea) for someone who wants to be writer, but isn't sure where to begin.

She is there for writers who have decided they'd like to try writing and aren't sure where to begin. I have a feeling we're going to see a lot more from her.

Here's what Dana wrote about The Writer's Bucket List

In May 2011, I left my job and home in Madison, Wisconsin to move to San Francisco to be a full-time writer. I didn't know what that meant, and I had no idea how to make it happen. Nonetheless, I started to collect clients, publish stories, and make my living writing and doing what I love.
I've been trying to come up with the right response to the readers, friends and colleagues who say to me, "I'd like to do what you're doing, but..."
I needed a way to say, "So do it already!"
Loudly.
So I wrote a book.
`A Writer's Bucket List' is a launching point for all of the possibilities of being a writer. Instead of another how-to on any kind of writing, this book is a "Why not?" for the writer's life.
The list is a combination of the unique steps that have formed my career and bolstered my creativity, and the things I haven't yet had a chance to try. The book offers some conventional and some unconventional steps on the path through a writer's life, why they matter, and advice for getting started.

For me, this is a reminder of what is possible for all of us. 16 years ago, I quit my corporate job to move to a small town and write. Sometimes I forget that. Sometime I forget I'm a writer. Or feel scattered.

But seeing what she has done inspires me.

Do what you love and FINISH your projects.

Thanks, Dana, for reminding me that people still follow their dreams and while trying to help others follow theirs. Nicely done.
Dana is AWESOME!
Not even worth the less than $5 I paid. Short, not at all a match to what you would expect from the description.
